ANZ chooses IMC Communications for stadium wireless roll-out

14 September 2010

ANZ Stadium used Cisco technology to provide free of charge wireless access to the Internet for the Members’ Lounge of ANZ Stadium at the Bledisloe Cup Final on 11 September 2010.

IMC Communications was engaged by ANZ to design and install a wireless network solution capable of delivering the Internet to 500 wireless handheld devices.

The solution consisted of a Cisco WLC5508 Wireless LAN Controller and 22 associated Wireless access points distributed throughout the member’s facilities. IMC Communications also provided a Cisco Firewall and 50Mbps Internet Link.

Delays in the approval process meant that IMC was left with only 5 days to complete the installation including all cable works, physical installation of the access points, configuration and load testing. However, full functionality and signoff was achieved with 24 hours to spare.

Andrew Gifford, Director of Technical Services, IMC Communications says the successful roll-out highlights both the agility of IMC and the reliability of the products used.

“The quick turn-around in the design and installation demonstrates the type of flexibility and dedication to the task that IMC Communications has built its reputation on.

“As promised, the new ANZ free members wireless internet solution performed flawlessly for the entire duration of the event,” said Gifford.

“Unlike the Wallabies,” he added.

Account Managers at IMC Communications ensured they had the equipment at hand to complete the work in anticipation of the order being placed at the last minute.

Cisco products were chosen due to their quality and the specialty training and knowledge of the IMC Communications Engineers.
